Just before Camryn turned 1 year old, we began working with her on baby sign language. I have some friends that taught their little ones and I saw how helpful those communication tools were during the 12-24 months when they're wanting to communicate, but don't quite have the complete vocabulary yet. So, we borrowed "Baby Signing Time" from my friend Melodie (until she gave C her own copy for her b-day, thanks Mel) and away we went. At first, Camryn just loved watching the other babies on the video, but then, slowly but surely, she started picking up on it. Her first sign was "all done", quickly followed by, "more", "eat", "drink", "please" and "thank-you". Now, she's a pro and can tell us what she wants rather than fussing and crying. Most of the time that is. :) It's been sooooo helpful. Yea for Baby Sign Language! :)
Here's a little video of Camryn showing off her skills (taken 8/1/10). Keep in mind this is her interpretation of the signs. She definitely puts her little twist on each sign. :)

she is doing so well! isn't it fun to watch them learn these new things and communicate with you?! i loved seeing her sign. and she is catching on so well. i sat Pax in a little chair today and turned it on. he was mesmerized and just sat and watched the video while i prepared dinner. such a fun stage as they absorb so much! yay for Camryn!
Awww! She's doing so good! Molly LOVES sign language. It really did make that 18-24 months better. (When I taught 2 year olds they knew over 300 signs before 2 1/2 - they soak it up!)Even now, Molly will sign if I'm not understanding her words. :)
Thanks for sharing!
