Easter Activities

The past few weeks, leading up to Easter, we've participated in quite a few fun Easter Activities. 2 egg hunts which were both inside due to the weather, but hey, Camryn could care less as long as she gets to play with the eggs and enjoy the candy. :) We also dyed eggs with our Community group and then made Resurrection Rolls together as a family the night before Easter.

Our first hunt was at Josh's parents house with her cousins, Asher & Avery. It didn't take the girls long to figure it out once they saw Asher running around gathering eggs and after they discovered what was inside. :) Camryn would find an egg, open it up, eat the candy and then repeat. Sweet girl LOVES M&M's. :) Here's a few pics.

Then, we dyed eggs with our Community Group and it was super fun, but oh so messy! We striped the girl's down to their birthday suits and went to town.

Our second hunt was at church with our Playgroup. We let the kids lose and they loved gathering the eggs and enjoying the goodies that were hidden inside. Camryn was so busy I could hardly get a decent picture of her, but at least we wrangled all of the kiddos for our infamous group shot. :)







And then the night before Easter, Josh, Camryn and I made Resurrection Rolls. We talked about how Jesus represented the marshmallow, and the butter we dipped it in was the oils they placed on his body and the cinnamon and sugar we sprinkled it with represented the spices they placed on him to anoint him before wrapping him in the crescent roll which symbolized the cloth. We placed them in the oven/tomb and then we took them out to discover that the roll/cloth is empty and that Jesus is ALIVE! (The marshmallow melted and the crescent roll puffed up.) Of course Camryn is obviously still young to grasp the lesson in it's entirety, but she was definitely surprised and excited to see that the roll was empty. And she was able to repeat back to us, "Jesus is ALIVE". I look forward to doing many more purposeful activities like this with her (and her little brother) :) in the future.

Girl's Weekend in San Antonio!

This past weekend I had a fabulous time in San Antonio with my GNO group. This is a group of friends from college that I've staying in contact with over the years and gets together every few months for a night out. Last year we headed to Lake Travis for our 30th birthday celebration (see it here), but this year we decided to visit our sweet friend Sherri, who lives just north of SA in Boerne. We headed out of town on Friday afternoon and returned on Sunday evening. Our weekend included 2 nights of late night chatting, sleeping in, yummy food, pedicures/manicures, shopping and some super sweet time together. I had so much fun and am already looking forward to next year. Love you girls! :)

Gifts for Baby Boy

After we found out the gender at our last sono, we quickly headed to Babies-R-Us to pick out a few new things for the little guy. When we were pregnant with Camryn, Josh and I both chose a gift for her. I chose the giraffe that was in her monthly photos and Josh chose a sweet book titled, Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones. He would read her the book when she was still in my tummy and today, it's one of her favorites. :)

So, for our little guy, we each picked out a gift and had so much fun looking through all the BOY stuff!

Gender Reveal Party!

Since we had our gender sono appointment scheduled for a good month before, I couldn't resist the urge to plan a super fun party to share the news with family and our Community Group. We bought blue and pink paper products, party favors and all of the food in prep. All we had to wait on was the news on Tuesday afternoon to fill our cupcakes for Wednesday night. It was SO much fun to share the news with everyone at once. Those that weren't able to make it, were quickly informed via text with a pic of the inside of the cupcake. :)

We are soooo excited!

We went to the doctor on Tuesday afternoon, the sonographer got all set-up, asked us if we wanted to know the gender, zoomed right in on his parts and I knew the answer, even before she told us. He had his legs spread WIDE open and we could clearly see his PARTS! No question at all, he is 100% BOY! :)



We had so much fun sharing the news with our family and Community Group last night at our Gender Reveal Party. More to come on that later, but for now, here's a sweet profile pic of our little BOY!

We have a Gender Reveal Party planned for family and our Community Group on Wednesday night and then Camyn and I are planning on sharing the news with our Playgroup on Thursday. We'll be sure to post the news here soon after. Can't wait!

Sharing the news!

After a visit to the doctor and a clear sono, we couldn't wait to order Camryn's shirt and share the news. On Saturday, February 18th, we went to the Arboretum with Mimi & Poppa ( my mom and dad). Camryn wore her shirt, but since it was a little chilly in the morning, she had to wear a jacket. So, after a little walking and exploring, I found a great picture spot and took Camryn's jacket off to take a pic. It took a little while, but my mom finally noticed the back of the shirt reading, "is going to be a BIG sister". She said, "Ah hem! What is this?", with a huge smile on her face. Lots of hugs and congrats followed, as well as lots more pictures and a picnic lunch on the lawn. Such a fun day!

















Next up, The Myers. We were getting together with Josh's family to celebrate his sister, Bethany's Birthday. So, this was the perfect opportunity. Everyone would be together except for Caleb. :( Poor Caleb was at college and couldn't come home for the weekend, but not to worry, we sent him a text shortly after we shared the news. :) So, in walks Camryn with her shirt on. It didn't take Nana (Josh's mom) too long to notice. They were so excited for us and were hoping to hear such news soon. :) Lots of hugs and congrats followed as well. I was waiting for Bethany to make her announcement that they were pregnant again, since that's what happened last time with Camryn, but no such luck. :) We enjoyed the afternoon together, eating yummy food and celebrating family. Love it!





And of course, we had to get a pic of the girls together in a matching outfit. :) This one was from Nana. Thanks Nana.


After that, it was on to sharing the news with friends! And coincidentally, I had a Girl's Night already on the calendar for the next weekend. This is a group of gals from college, that I've kept in touch with and we get together every few months for yummy food, lots of laughs and reminiscing. :) A few years ago, we decided that we needed a fun way to share the news of new babies in our group. A lot of us were in the same sorority at college together and when one of us got engaged, we would have a candle passing to share the news. Someone would turn off the lights, everyone would scream with excitement, and a lit candle would begin to be passed around the room. By the time it got around to the engaged gal, she would blow it out! So fun! Well, we thought, how about a paci? The preggo would bring a paci with them and discreetly place it somewhere that it could later be discovered. So, this particular night we got together for a Mexican Fiesta at my friend, Kristin's house. So, when I got there, I discreetly hid my paci in a bag of opened tortilla chips and waited for someone to discover it. By the time we were going through the buffet line, to dish up our plates, one of the last girls happened to pull it out of the bag with her handful of chips. She brought it to the table and everyone started saying, "It's not me!" I couldn't wait any longer for someone to guess, so I shared our exciting news. :) So fun to share it with such an amazing group of girls that have been there for me from engagement, to the day Josh and I got married, through the birth of our first child and now as our family grows again. Such a special time. Love you girls!
